Supreme Court Refuses Appeal – Tens of Thousands Benefit from Solar Panel Subsidy Reinstatement

 

Legal action against the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) began back in November, when a group of solar companies acted together to enforce an injunction stopping the DECC from using 12 December as the cut-off date for existing FITs on the basis that it was “illegal, irrational and unreasonable”.

Changes to EPC legislation

There have been important changes to the legislation concerning the provision of Energy Performance Certificates.

Below are the key points in the new legislation:

An EPC must be commissioned before marketing a property..

Unless you already have an EPC available you must commission an EPC from an EPC provider before you first put the property on the market.

On the 6th April the Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 (a bit of a mouthful) will go live.  And these latest Regulations will have a significant impact on the commissioning of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

Homes in England and Wales increased in value by 0.1%, the second consecutive month of rises, according to the latest Land Registry figures. Whilst in Scotland, average house prices remain stable, with no change.

So what is a Chartered Surveyor?

I was recently asked to define the phrase Chartered Surveyor.  The text book answer is that a Chartered Surveyor is the description of Professional Members and Fellows of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Only qualified members of the RICS are entitled to use the designation.

But, of course, that is not the whole answer because the term Chartered Surveyor now covers a very wide base. I have listed below some of the areas of expertise that the word Chartered Surveyor covers:-
